Now that it's done...

30 posts, 544 unique visitors, 1742 page views.

Barring the last three days which have been absolutely crazy (and will require me to go back and write more substantive posts) I am going to call the 30 in 30 for January a huge success and the numbers show that.  This more than anything proves that the idea of hustle and creating any content on a regular basis can grow an audience.

Are there some things I would do differently if I were to do it again? You bet. Has this experiment changed the way I think about blogging? No doubt. Will it affect my future behavior on this blog? Without question.  Should be fun to move this one in a direction that hopefully will help both you guys get value and get to know me a bit better.

Half way there...

This is day 17 of 30 (well maybe 31 if I'm feeling ambitious) on this blogging project and I thought it would be appropriate to take a quick moment and tell you all a little bit about what I've learned in this process.

First off, you'd be shocked who's actually listening.  In the time since I've started this I've become friends with the Ren Men, been featured on a book's website and had a well known color expert leave a comment on my blog.  I've been retweeted by over a dozen people and have had some of my own beliefs regarding my writing challenged.  If you're starting or restarting a blog don't be shocked if someone you never expected leaves a comment or gets pointed to your website.  Remember they're only a single person away. ;)

While I still find my writing to be pretty poor, it's become that much easier for me to simply write about anything which is a side effect I wasn't anticipating.  I used to struggle for hours to figure out something to talk about or compile my thoughts on a book.  Now because I'm constantly creating content I feel much more able to sit down with a single thought and write from a stream of consciousness and have it come out okay for a first draft.  I'll review, re-read and edit each of the posts as they need them even days after being published.  That stated, I don't think this is the best way for me to present information or my thoughts.  Writing 3 posts a week with much more thought and links is likely the way I'll go come February 1.

Finally, Jay Baer was right in his PodCampAZ presentation, more content is better.  I've seen a very interesting spike in traffic when I follow the rules he and other experienced bloggers suggest (top x lists, creating catchy titles and don't be afraid of subheaders).  I mean my subscriber base remains small and my unique viewers has been growing and it's still very odd to me that I've had what Squarespace's analytics guesses is somewhere over 400 different folks hit the blog since the start of the month.  I have to ask now who are you and what do you come here to read or learn about? How can I use the rest of this blogging month to help you?

Thanks for being a partner on this ride and I look forward to where this goes going forward.
